Anathema Maranatha

Many who resist the Holy Spirit and do not love Jesus believe the good promises in the Bible are for them. These are promises that are for them:

Mark 3:29: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:

1 Corinthians 16:22: If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.

Anathema Maranatha means accursed when the Lord comes (and forever after). A quick glance at these two scriptures might give us the idea that there are two unpardonable sins, blaspheme of the Holy Spirit and not loving Jesus. Never having forgiveness and being accursed forever are simply two ways to say the same thing. The blaspheme of the Holy Spirit guarantees that blasphemers will not love Jesus since one function of the Holy Spirit is to put love in human hearts.

Romans 5:5: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

It is also true that love FOR God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost.

The Holy Spirit is the one and only provider of that imperative love to human hearts. We humans are not the source.

1 John 4:19: We love him, because he first loved us.

Only when He is doing His job in us do we love Jesus. Notice that the location of the love of God is the heart and not the mind. A human mind might contain something that resembles the love of God. Apart from the work of the Holy Spirit the best things that a human mind can produce are things like admiration and respect. Admiration and respect are not enough. Admiration and respect are NOT love.

Before the Holy Spirit does His supernatural work on our hearts we are haters of God and enemies of God.

Psalms 81:15: The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.

Romans 1:30: Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

Romans 8:7: Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

We desperately need the Holy Spirit to penetrate our hard hearts and enable us to love as God requires and deserves.
